A recipient of a soil conservation award must be a resident of South Dakota and directly and actively engaged in agriculture within the state. Recipients of a soil conservation award are not eligible to receive another award within the same conservation district for five years after the date of the award. Conservation district supervisors are not eligible to receive an award while serving on the board of supervisors. Advisors to the board of supervisors are not eligible. State Conservation Commission members are not eligible to receive an award while serving on the commission.
