Section 121-8.4 - Exploration Permits

A. No person shall commence exploration for oil or gas in the State without first obtaining an exploration permit from the Commission. In order to obtain an exploration permit, an applicant shall submit the following information:

An exploration permit will be issued by the Commission with such conditions and restrictions as it deems necessary within thirty (30) days of receipt of all required information if it is determined that the proposed exploratory activity does not endanger public health or safety and that the applicant has shown adequate financial responsibility for the conduct of the proposed work. An exploration permit does not discharge the duty of the permittee to obtain consent from private property owners for operations on privately-owned lands.
