A. With the approval of the State's Section 1115 waiver in 2009, enrollment in an MCO became mandatory for all individuals and families covered in the Rhode Island Medicaid program who do not require long term services and supports. The State's goal in implementing this policy is to assure that all Rhode Islanders enrolled in Medicaid have access to an organized system of high quality services that provides a medical home focusing on primary care and prevention services.
