The following species have the most durable heartwood and it is recommended that they be used where resistance to decay is required:
(1) Black locust.
(2) Osage orange.
(3) Port Orford cedar.
(4) Alaska cedar.
(5) Red cypress.
(6) Redwood.
(7) Incense cedar.
(8) Western red cedar.
(9) Chestnut.
