Section 375:30-5-2 - Submission of DNA samples to the OSBI

(a) Agencies eligible to submit samples. Any agency authorized by statute to request the assistance of the OSBI may submit samples of body fluids or other materials from items of evidence to the DNA laboratory.
(b) Types of samples which may be submitted. All samples of body fluid submitted to the DNA laboratory for DNA analysis shall be in dried form or an appropriate substrate.
(c) Required information.
(1) All
agencies submitting a sample to the DNA laboratory for DNA analysis shall
provide the following information with each sample submitted.
(A) The full name of the requesting
agency.
(B) The address of the
requesting agency.
(C) The name of
the requesting officer (contact person).
(D) Email and telephone number of requesting
officer.
(E) The type of body fluid
or other material the submitting agency believes the sample to be (blood,
semen, hair, etc.).
(F) A brief
summary of the case under investigation in connection to which the sample is
being submitted.
(G) Information on
how the sample was collected and the location that the sample was collected
from.
(2) The DNA sample
shall be delivered to any OSBI laboratory.
(3) Deliveries of DNA samples may be made
Monday through Friday (except state holidays) between the hours of 8:00 a.m.
and 5:00 p.m.
