Section 260:135-5-86 - Credit points

Credit points shall be allowed in the following instances:

(1) Two points shall be credited to a person's driving record upon successful completion of an approved Driver Improvement/Defensive Driving Course. Credit points shall be given once every twenty-four (24) months for completing an approved course, provided only one full course shall be acknowledged once every twenty-four (24) months.

(2) Two points shall be credited to a person's driving record when the person has gone twelve (12) consecutive months without being convicted of any pointable violation that appears in OAC 260:135-5-55.

(3) Upon the reinstatement of a person's privilege to drive after a suspension which was based on violations listed in OAC 260:135-5-55, the points level shall be reduced to five (5) points or less as provided in these regulations.

(4) In addition to (1) (2) and (3) of this subsection, the point level shall be reduced to zero if a person is not convicted of any pointable traffic violation that is listed in this Subchapter of these regulations for three (3) consecutive years.

(5) The point level cannot be reduced below zero.
