EXECUTIVE ORDER 2023-5

I, J. Kevin Stitt, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, hereby direct the appropriate steps be taken to fly all American and Oklahoma flags on State property at half-staff from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023, to honor the life and legacy of Jeremy David McCain, who passed away on March 20, 2023.

An 11-year veteran of the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, Deputy McCain was honored to serve as a School Resource Officer at Oklahoma Christian School in Edmond for the last six years. He was a strong community leader, loved and respected by the school's administration, teachers, students, and parents alike. Deputy McCain leaves behind a loving family, including his son; Collin Lincoln James "The Mouse" McCain; mother, Lisa Miracle and her husband Larry; grandparents, Barbara and Gene Erickson; brothers, Daniel (Jody) and Dallas (Danielle), and many other loved ones across the state. His funeral service is Friday, March 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at Crossing Community Church in Oklahoma City.

I encourage all Oklahomans to honor our fallen officers by celebrating their faithful service to the public. The state of Oklahoma recognizes not only our brave law enforcement officers and their service to protect and keep our communities safe, but the sacrifices of their families and loved ones as well.

This executive order shall be forwarded to the Division of Capital Assets Management, who shall cause the provisions of this order to be implemented by all appropriate agencies of state government.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Oklahoma to be affixed at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on this 22 nd day of March, 2023.
