EXECUTIVE ORDER 2022-17

Pursuant to Article VI, Section 10 of the Oklahoma Constitution, I, J. Kevin Stitt, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, hereby declare the execution of Richard Eugene Glossip stayed effective September 22, 2022-the day he is currently scheduled to be executed.

Moreover, pursuant to 22 O.S. § 1001.1(G), which requires that a sentence of death be carried out not more than thirty (30) days after the dissolution of a stay of execution, the execution date for Richard Eugene Glossip shall be set for December 8, 2022, or seventeen (17) days following the expiration of the sixty (60) day stay set to begin September 22, 2022. This stay is granted to allow time for the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals to address a pending legal proceeding.

This Executive Order shall be forwarded to the Director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and the Oklahoma Attorney General who shall cause the provisions of this order to be implemented by all appropriate agencies of state government.
