Oklahoma Administrative Code
Title 1 - EXECUTIVE ORDERS
Section 1:2015-14

Universal Citation: OK Admin Code 1:2015-14
Current through Vol. 41, No. 13, March 15, 2024

We know what an important role physical fitness and nutrition plays in the health of Oklahomans. Similarly, we understand that encouraging participation in and commitment to athletics is a great way to promote a healthy lifestyle, and one that naturally resonates with many sports-loving Oklahomans. Physical activity and a well-balanced diet must be incorporated into our daily routines if we, as citizens, are to achieve a satisfying quality of life, and if we, as a State, are to attain the increased prosperity that comes with heightened productivity and diminished health expenses.

It is for this reason that I, Mary Fallin, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, pursuant to the power and authority vested in me by Sections 1 and 2 of Article VI of the Oklahoma Constitution, hereby create the Governor's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition (Council).

The purpose of the Council shall be to encourage all Oklahomans to adopt a healthy lifestyle that incorporates physical activities, sports, and good nutrition, both through educational outreach and by partnering with public, private, and non-profit programs that foster wellness initiatives. All existing bylaws of the previously constituted Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (created pursuant to E.O. 91-10) shall continue in full force for as long this Order is effective, unless and until such bylaws are amended or revoked by the Council.

The Council shall consist of twelve (12) members to be appointed by the Governor. The Governor shall designate from the appointed members a Chair and a Vice-Chair. All members shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor, and without compensation. The Council shall meet at such times and places as it deems appropriate.

This Executive Order shall be distributed to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, who shall cause the provisions of this Order to be implemented.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Oklahoma to be affixed at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, this 9th day of March, 2015.

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA

Mary Fallin

ATTEST:

Chris Benge

Secretary of State
