(A) Equipment and facilities:
(1) Milk cans used in transporting milk from
the dairy farm to the plant shall meet the requirements of utensils and
equipment as specified in rule
901:11-2-15
of the Administrative Code.
(2) New
farm bulk tanks shall meet the 3-A sanitary standards for construction and
shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of the
director.
(B)
Transporting milk or cream:
(1) Vehicles used
for the transportation of can milk or cream shall be of the enclosed type,
constructed and operated to protect the product from extreme temperature, dust,
or other adverse conditions and
shall be kept clean. Cans or bulk tanks on vehicles
which are used for
the transportation of milk from the farm to the plant shall not be used for any
other purpose.
(2) The exterior
shell of the farm bulk milk transport tanks shall be clean and free from open
seams or cracks which would permit liquid to enter the jacket. The interior
shell shall consist of stainless steel and constructed so that it will not buckle, sag, or prevent complete
drainage. All product contact surfaces shall be smooth, easily cleaned, and
maintained in good repair. The pump and hose cabinet shall be fully enclosed
with tight-fitting doors and the inlet and outlet shall be provided with dust
covers to provide adequate protection from road dust. New and replacement farm
bulk milk transport tanks shall meet the 3-A sanitary standards for milk
transport tanks.
(C)
Enclosed or covered facilities shall be available for cleaning and sanitizing
of farm bulk milk transport tanks, piping and accessories, at central locations
or at all plants that receive or ship milk or dairy products in transport
tanks.
(D) Transfer of milk to
transport tanks shall be transferred under sanitary conditions from farm bulk
tanks through stainless steel piping or approved tubing. The ends of the
sanitary piping and tubing shall be capped when not in use.
