Section 5139-8-01 - Procedure for providing youth allowance

(A) The intent of this rule is to establish a uniform procedure to provide youth within the institutions with an allowance to enable them to make commissary purchases. .

(B) Each fiscal year the director of the department shall determine the maximum monthly dollar amount which may be deposited into the individual youth's account.

(C) At the discretion of each institution, the institution shall determine, on a monthly basis, those youths who have no funds or less than the maximum monthly dollar amount in their individual account. Based on such determination, the business office may transfer funds of up to the maximum monthly dollar amount from designated accounts to be deposited in the youths' individual accounts.

(D) Once the funds have been deposited in the youths' accounts, the youths may make commissary purchases and such purchases shall be debited to the youths' individual accounts.
