Section 5139-2-15 - Prohibited activity relating to weapons, intoxicating liquors, tobacco products, drugs, unauthorized correspondence, communication devices, and hunting

(A) The purpose of this rule is to describe prohibited activities by department of youth services (ODYS) personnel, visitors, or trespassers to ODYS property and institutions. Prohibited activities are those deemed threatening to the safety and welfare of the youth.
(B) All ODYS personnel and all visitors are prohibited from conveying into any ODYS institution, or onto the grounds of any ODYS institution, the following items:
(C) The managing officer of all ODYS institutions will immediately bring all possible violations of this rule to the attention of the deputy director of the division responsible for institutions and the chief inspector's office.
(D) Violations of this rule may result in the arrest and/or possible criminal prosecution against the employee, visitor, or trespasser pursuant to section 2921.37 of the Revised Code for violations under section 2921.36 of the Revised Code.
(E) Law enforcement officers are to be asked to deposit their weapons in the trunk of their vehicle or in a locked box outside of the institution's secure perimeter. Law enforcement officers will only be permitted to carry weapons into a secure perimeter of an institution with the approval of the director of the agency.
