Chapter 4501-54 - Motor Vehicle Collision Prevention Course
Section 4501-54-02 - Definitions

As used in Chapter 4501-54 of the Administrative Code:

(A) "Authorizing official" means any person who owns or who maintains responsibility on behalf of an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, or an association for the facilities, equipment, instructors, managers and other employees of a mature driver enterprise.

(B) "Certificate of Operation" means the approval of an enterprise to operate a mature operator program as provided by the director of the department of public safety.

(C) "Course, mature operator course, or mature driver course" means the motor vehicle collision prevention course for drivers age sixty or older.

(D) "Course instructor" means the individual approved by the director of the department of public safety to operate and conduct the motor vehicle collision prevention course for drivers age sixty or older.

(E) "Course records" mean the course curriculum, all course materials, instructor's guides, copies of written exercise, and exercise scores.

(F) "Director" means the director of the department of public safety.

(G) "Drug use" means the use of prescription, over-the-counter, herbal, or nonprescription drugs.

(H) "Enterprise" means the business approved by the director of the department of public safety to operate a motor vehicle collision prevention course for drivers age sixty or older.

(I) "Participant or student" means a person age sixty or older taking the motor vehicle collision prevention course.

(J) "Skills demonstration" means the portion of the mature operator course that requires the participant to demonstrate the ability to exercise ordinary and reasonable control in the operation of a motor vehicle.

(K) "Written exercise" means a written quiz that tests the participant's knowledge based on the classroom instruction of the course.

(L) Incorporated by reference. This chapter includes material that has been incorporated by reference. If the material is subject to change, only the specific version listed in this rule is incorporated. Any revision to the referenced material is not incorporated unless and until this rule has been amended to specify the new date.

(1) "Mature Driver Course Completion Certificate" is made available to approved mature driver courses and may be accessed via the driver training program office on-line application database at https://services.dps.ohio.gov/DETS.

(2) "Mature Operator Course Place of Business Supplement" or form "DTO

0133" (April, 2018) may be accessed via the driver training program office website at http://www.drivertraining.ohio.gov/forms.aspx.

(3) "Mature Driver Course Provider Application" or form " DTO

0131" (October, 2018) may be accessed via the driver training program office website at http://www.drivertraining.ohio.gov/forms.aspx or electronically through the "Driver Education and Training System" at https://services.dps.ohio.gov/DETS.
