Section 4501:1-1-03 - Occupant restraining device exemption

(A) An individual applying for an occupant restraining device exemption due to a physical impairment according to section 4513.263 of the Revised Code must complete BMV form 2942 "Occupant restraining device exemption request" (10/2019), which includes an affirmation by a physician or chiropractor.

(B) If the physical impairment is permanent or expected to be permanent, the individual may submit the form to the bureau of motor vehicles to have the exemption notated in the law enforcement automated data system (LEADS).

(C) If the physical impairment is temporary, the individual shall keep BMV form 2942 (10/2019) on his or her person while operating or riding in a motor vehicle. The temporary affidavit shall expire on the date indicated by the physician or chiropractor on BMV form 2942 (10/2019).
