Chapter 3769-6 - Claiming; Jockey and Starter Rules
Section 3769-6-35 - Horse must carry full weight and jockey must remain mounted

(A) Each horse shall carry the full weight assigned for that race from the paddock to the starting point and throughout the race.

(B) After the horses enter the track, no jockey may dismount nor entrust his or her horse to the care of an attendant except in case of an accident or injury to the jockey or the horse or in the event of an equipment problem, and then only with the prior consent of the starter.

(C) During any delay in which a jockey is permitted to dismount, all other jockeys may, with the permission of the starter or the stewards, dismount for the same period of time and their horses may be attended by assistant starters or pony persons.
