Chapter 3769-6 - Claiming; Jockey and Starter Rules
Section 3769-6-26 - Jockey attire
The jockey shall be weighed out fully dressed in his/her riding clothing of cap, jacket, breeches and boots. His/her weight shall include saddle with attachments including undergirth, stirrups, webbing and weight pad, if weight pad is needed. The weight shall not include safety helmet, safety vest, bridle or whip. He/she shall wear an arm number corresponding to his/her saddle cloth number. His/her whip shall weigh not more than one pound and be approved by the track stewards. Whips shall be limited to thirty inches in length, including a looped popper of not less than one and one-quarter inches in width. The clerk of scales shall have the duty of checking the whips used by riders in a race. The bridle shall weigh not more than two pounds. The use of spurs is prohibited.
