(A) A hospice care patient may identify their own attending physician or may designate the hospice care program medical director or another hospice care program physician to be their attending physician.
(B) Each hospice care program shall provide:
(1) Effective palliation and management of
terminal illness and related conditions; and
(2) Medical services which meet the medical
needs of the patient that are not otherwise met by the patient's:
(a) Attending physician;
(b) A physician assistant, who is acting
within their scope of practice under the supervision,
control, and direction of a physician; or
(c) An advanced practice
registered nurse, who is acting within
their scope of practice and who is working in
collaboration with a physician.
(C) All medical orders for treatment, procedures, tests, and medications shall be signed by:
(1) A physician;
(2) A physician assistant, who is acting
within their scope of practice under the supervision,
direction, and control of a physician; or
(3) An advanced practice
registered nurse, who is acting within
their scope of practice and who is working in
collaboration with a physician.
