Section 3364-61-07 - Authority of university law enforcement officers

(A) Purpose of policy

In accordance with Ohio civil service law and section 3345.04 of the Revised Code, the board of trustees may designate selected employees to the position of state university law enforcement officer, hereafter referred to as university law enforcement officer, which officers are assigned to the department of public safety.

These employees are bonded peace officers who are authorized to enforce all laws of the state of Ohio, the city of Toledo, and regulations of the university on and around the university campuses.

University law enforcement officers have misdemeanor and felony arrest authority, as well as all other enforcement powers granted to peace officers in the state of Ohio and they are subject to all training and education requirements established by the Ohio peace officer's training council and the university of Toledo. University law enforcement officers are further authorized, upon request, to enforce state and local laws in the geographical areas surrounding university campuses pursuant to agreements permitted by section 3345.041 of the Revised Code.
