Section 69.5-01-07-04 - Closing of entries

1. Overnight entries. Entries for overnight racing must be closed at ten a.m. by the racing secretary, unless a later closing is established by the racing secretary or unless approved by the stewards.

a. Sweepstakes entries. If an hour for closing is designated, entries and declarations for sweepstakes cannot be received thereafter. However, if a time for closing is not designated, entries and declarations may be mailed or other electronic communication until midnight of the day of closing, if they are received in time to comply with all other conditions of the race. In the absence of notice to the contrary, entries and declarations for sweepstakes which close during or on the day preceding a race meeting shall close at the office of the racing secretary in accordance with any requirement the racing secretary shall make. Closing for sweepstakes not during race meetings must be at the office of the association.

b. Nominations for stakes races do not close nor is any eligibility payment due on a day in which the United States postal service is not operating.
