The BPS Medical Services Director shall have the following responsibilities:
(1) Develop standards and procedures to determine eligibility for and continued employment in BPS, including the weight and agility requirements mentioned in Regulations .0106(c)(5) and (9) of Section .0100 of this Subchapter. In order to develop such standards, the director shall evaluate the physical and emotional demands of BPS duties.
(2) Select the physicians who will participate in BPS medical examinations described in Regulation .0203 of this Section.
(3) In conjunction with approved physicians, provide periodic examinations of members of the BPS, as described in Regulation .0203, and assign to them a medical classification code as provided in Regulation .0204(b) of this Section.
(4) Through such examinations, provide for members an opportunity for the early detection of medical problems and counsel with, refer or treat members who are found to have medical problems.
(5) Provide to members information on improving and maintaining their physical and emotional health.
(6) Provide medical advice to the chief in investigations and in duty assignments involving medical risk.
(7) Establish special sensorial examinations and procedures to test effort tolerance and to determine whether particular members are medically fit for particular jobs.
(8) Provide a complete range of medical specialist consultations.
(9) Maintain a central file on BPS medical records, including X-ray records.
