(a) Benchmark: The local health department shall provide, support, and evaluate health promotion activities designed to influence the behavior of individuals and groups.
(b) Activities:
(1) The local health department shall
develop, implement and evaluate population-based health promotion/disease
prevention programs and educational materials for the general public.
(2) The local health department shall carry
out or assist other agencies in the development, implementation and evaluation
of health promotion/disease prevention programs and educational materials
targeted to groups identified as at-risk in the community health
assessment.
(3) The local health
department shall employ evidence-based health promotions/disease prevention
strategies, when such evidence exists.
(4) The local health department shall promote
and support the use of evidence-based health promotion/disease prevention
strategies by other community agencies and organizations.
