Section 7823.4 - Average fuel economy

For fiscal years beginning April 1, 1981 and each April first thereafter, the average fuel economy shall be as follows:

Fiscal year Average fuel economy
1981-82 24.0 miles per gallon (mpg)
1982-1983 26.0 miles per gallon (mpg)
1983-1984 27.0 miles per gallon (mpg)
1984 and thereafter 27.5 miles per gallon (mpg)
