Section 8.13 - Executive Order No. 13: Revoking Executive Order No. 7 Establishing the Prison Closure Advisory Task Force

WHEREAS, the Executive Budget for fiscal year 2011-2012 proposed creating a Prison Closure Advisory Task Force to make recommendations identifying which State-operated correctional facilities should be closed in order to create a more cost-effective and efficient correctional system; and

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 7, issued on February 9, 2011, established a Prison Closure Advisory Task Force that would become operational ten days after the enactment of the State Operations Appropriations bill; and

WHEREAS, the final budget passed by the Legislature and enacted by Chapter 57 of the Laws of 2011 grants the Governor discretion to determine which State-operated correctional facilities to close during fiscal year 2011-2012, without the need for recommendations from a Task Force;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of New York, do hereby revoke and rescind Executive Order No. 7.
