Section 4.84 - Executive order no. 84: declaring a disaster emergency in cattaraugus and chautauqua counties and contiguous areas
WHEREAS, Over the period July 18 - August 3, 1986, a series of severe storm systems resulted in flooding and caused personal hardship, damage to residential and commercial properties and the agricultural community, as well as disruption of vital public transportation systems in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties and contiguous areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mario M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York, do hereby find that a disaster has occurred within Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties, for which local governments are unable to respond adequately, and therefore, I hereby declare, pursuant to the authority vested in me by the Constitution, the laws of the State of New York and section 28 of article 2-B of the Executive Law, a disaster emergency, effective July 18, 1986, within the territorial boundaries of Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties and contiguous areas.
FURTHER, pursuant to section 29 of article 2-B of the State Executive Law, I direct the implementation of the State Disaster Preparedness Plan and authorize, effective July 18, 1986, the State Emergency Management Office, the State Department of Transportation, and other State agencies as necessary, to take appropriate actions to assist Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties in restoring vital public transportation systems and to provide such other assistance as may be necessary to protect the public health and safety.
