Section 4.39 - Executive order no. 39: declaring a disaster emergency in the counties of orange, sullivan, ulster and westchester, the city of yonkers and contiguous areas
WHEREAS, severe storms continue to affect a number of communities in southeastern New York State causing considerable damage and destruction to commercial and residential properties as well as interruption of essential services and disruption of vital transportation systems,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mario M. Cuomo, Governor of New York State, do hereby find that, as a result of these continuing storm systems, the existing emergency situation has become more serious, complex, and widespread, and therefore, I hereby declare, pursuant to the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of New York and section 28 of article 2-B of the Executive Law, that the present State disaster emergency, effective March 29, 1984, is expanded to include the Counties of Orange, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester, the City of Yonkers and affected contiguous areas.
FURTHER, pursuant to section 29 of article 2-B of the New York State Executive Law, I direct the continued execution of the State Disaster Plan, and authorize all State agencies to take appropriate action as necessary to assist the affected communities in protecting the public health and safety.
