Section 3.107 - Executive Order No. 107: Declaring an emergency in New York State and directing the Office of General Services to provide equipment and assistance to aid in the establishment of temporary shelters in New York State armories

WHEREAS, Extremely cold weather conditions have endangered the health and welfare of thousands of individuals in New York State who live in residences without adequate heat, and that local social services departments require the assistance of the Office of General Services to utilize New York State armories as temporary shelters for such individuals;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Hugh L. Carey, by virture of the authority vested in me as Governor under section 28 of article 2B of the New York State Executive Law, do hereby declare an emergency in New York State. Further, pursuant to section 29 of article 2B of the New York State Executive Law, I direct the Office of General Services to take such action as necessary to assist local social services departments to utilize New York State armories as temporary shelters.
