Section 1.8 - Executive Order No. 8: [Extending of enlistments in the New York Army and Air National Guards.]

I, Nelson A. Rockefeller, by virtue of the authority invested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the State of New York, and pursuant to Public Law 87-117, approved by the President of the United States on August 1, 1961 and Executive Order of the President of the United States, Number 10957, dated August 16, 1961, and as Governor of the State of New York, do hereby direct by Executive Order as follows:

(I) All enlistments, re-enlistments and voluntary extensions of enlistment in the New York Army National Guard which expire at any time after 2400 hours September 30, 1961 and prior to 2400 hours June 30, 1962 are hereby extended for a period of one year from their respective dates of expiration, provided that nothing contained herein shall be construed to prevent immediate voluntary re-enlistment under applicable laws and regulations.

(II) All enlistments, re-enlistments and voluntary extensions of enlistment in the New York Air National Guard of persons whose enlistments, re-enlistments or voluntary extensions of enlistment as Reserves of the Air Force have been extended pursuant to Public Law 87-117, which expired at any time after 2400 hours August 17, 1961 and prior to 2400 hours June 30, 1962 are hereby extended for a period of twelve months from their respective dates of expiration, provided that nothing contained herein shall be construed to prevent immediate voluntary re-enlistment under applicable laws and regulations.
