Section 1.77 - Executive order no. 77: order relating to the establishment of the office of education performance review

I, Nelson A. Rockefeller, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the State of New York, and as Governor of the State of New York, do hereby establish in the Executive Chamber an Office of Education Performance Review.

The Office shall be headed by a Special Assistant for Education Performance Review, who shall be appointed by the Governor and who shall also be known as the Director of the Office.

I. General Powers.

The Office shall:

(1) Investigate and review the cost effectiveness of public expenditures for the operation of the system of public elementary and secondary school education in the State; and

(2) Make recommendations for improving efficiency, effectiveness and economy in the management, supervision and implementation of public elementary and secondary school programs.

II. Personnel.

The Director may employ such additional personnel as he deems necessary and desirable to fulfill the functions of the Office and provide compensation within the amounts made available by appropriation therefor.
