LIST OF APPROVED RIVERS SYSTEM LAND MANAGEMENT PLANS

This appendix sets forth brief summaries of rivers system land management plans approved by the agency pursuant to section 577.9 of this Title. These plans, which provide for the management, development and preservation of specified lands within the river areas of wild, scenic and recreational rivers, when approved by the agency, may nullify certain provisions of Part 577 of this Title and may in certain cases vest jurisdiction over river projects in local government.

1. Proponent: Town of Horicon

Date of approval: January 20, 1978

Summary of provisions: The Horicon rivers system plan, incorporated in the town zoning ordinance, applies to the river area of the Schroon River (a recreational river) within the town. The ordinance establishes a Recreational River District and includes regulations identical to the applicable provisions in Part 577 of this Title, including activities requiring conditional use approval within the river area, special criteria for such approval, and restrictions and standards for activities not requiring such approval.

The agency approval of the Horicon Plan provided that, once the town zoning ordinance was adopted, the river area of the Schroon within the town be managed and controlled according to the provisions of the ordinance in lieu of Part 577 of this Title.
