Section 193.4 - Conditions of employment

(a) All places in which the juveniles are working shall be constructed, equipped, arranged, operated and conducted so as to provide reasonable and adequate protection for their lives, health and safety.

(b) Such employment may include, but is not limited to:

(1) general cleanup;

(2) minor repairs;

(3) routine clerical duties;

(4) beautification of grounds.

(c) All participating juveniles shall obtain employment certificates and shall be afforded, at school district expense, coverage under the Workers' Compensation Law. All conditions of work shall meet the standards prescribed in the Labor Law, including wages. Juveniles employed in restitution projects shall not be used to replace regular employees.

(d) Assigned duties shall not interfere with the juvenile's regular instructional program.
