Section 145-1.5 - Classification of scholarships in medicine, dentistry, optometry and veterinary medicine

(a) Regents scholarships in medicine and dentistry authorized under subdivision 3 of section 605 of the Education Law shall be distributed on the basis of 20 for the professional study of dentistry and the remainder for the professional study of medicine. Half of the dental scholarships shall be distributed to successful candidates residing in the counties of the City of New York and half to successful candidates residing in other counties of the State. Of the medical scholarships not awarded pursuant to subdivision 4 of section 605 of the Education Law, half shall be distributed to successful candidates residing in the counties of the City of New York and half to successful candidates residing in other counties of the State. Professional education in medicine shall include the study of osteopathy.
(b) The five Regents scholarships in optometry authorized under subdivision 3-a of section 605 of the Education Law shall be distributed on a statewide basis.
(c) The 10 Regents scholarships in veterinary medicine authorized under subdivision 3-b of section 605 of the Education Law shall be distributed on a statewide basis.
