Section 55.2 - Teacher opportunity corps program

(a) Definitions. For purposes of the teacher opportunity corps program:

(1) Minorities historically underrepresented in the teaching field means residents of New York State who are black, Hispanic, native American Indian or Alaskan native.

(2) A student who is economically disadvantaged means a student who meets the criteria set forth in subdivisions (b) and (c) of section 27-1.1 of this Title, except that paragraphs (2) and (4) of subdivision (b) of section 27-1.1 shall not apply.

(3) An approved program leading to permanent certification in teaching means a program registered by the department and offered in New York State which has been determined by the commissioner to satisfy academic requirements for permanent certification in teaching.
