Section 671.1 - Purpose of this part

It is the general purpose of this Part to implement the policy of the State with regard to the release of waters from certain reservoirs, as set forth in title 8 of article 15 of the Environmental Conservation Law. Accordingly, it is the specific purpose of this Part to regulate the release of waters from Cannonsville reservoir into the West Branch Delaware River, from the Pepacton reservoir into the East Branch Delaware River, and from the Neversink reservoir into the Neversink River, in order to protect and enhance the recreational use of those rivers and the Delaware River, while ensuring and without impairing an adequate supply of water for power production or for any municipality which uses water from such reservoirs for drinking and other purposes, and while ensuring and without impairing the rights or interests of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware in the waters of the Delaware River basin.
