Section 840.7 - Admission to New York Bar without examination

WHEREAS, Judiciary Law section 90(1)(b), as amended by chapter 307 of the Laws of 1988, and section 520.9(a)(1) of the Rules of the Court of Appeals, as amended on October 1, 1988, provide, inter alia, that this Court may admit to practice without examination an applicant who has been admitted to practice in another State or territory or the District of Columbia or in a foreign country, provided that at least one such jurisdiction in which the applicant is so admitted would similarly admit an attorney admitted to practice in New York to its Bar without examination; and

WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Advisory Committee on Admission of Attorneys that the Appellate Divisions of the Supreme Court maintain a list of reciprocal jurisdiction; it is

ORDERED, that the Clerk of this Court, in consultation with the Clerks of the other Appellate Divisions, shall prepare and maintain a list of reciprocal jurisdictions; and it is further

ORDERED, that jurisdictions shall not be added to or deleted from said list except after consultation by and among the Clerks of the Appellate Divisions.
