Section 2053.8 - Requests for records

(a) All requests for records must comply with sections 2053.4 and 2053.6 of this Part, reasonably describe the record sought, and whenever possible, supply identifying information that assists the corporation in locating the records sought.

(b) Requests based upon categories of information described in a notice of a system of records or a privacy impact statement, referred to in section 2053.15 of this Part, shall be deemed to reasonably describe the record sought.

(c) Within five business days after receipt of a request, the corporation shall:

(1) make the record available for inspection, without codes or symbols unless an accompanying document explaining such codes or symbols is also provided;

(2) upon payment of or offer to pay the fees referred to below, permit the data subject to copy the record;

(3) deny access to the record in whole or in part and explain in writing the reasons therefor; or

(4) acknowledge receipt of the request and state the approximate date when the request will be granted or denied, which date shall not exceed 30 days from the date of the acknowledgment.
