Section 1211.36 - Corrosive liquids referenced to this section

(a) Corrosive liquids listed in section 1211.150 for reference to this section are restricted to a maximum quantity per vehicle of 120 gallons or 2000 pounds gross weight provided, however, the contents of each container is 15 gallons capacity or less.

(b) When it is known that said article contains less than 10 percent free mineral acid, or free caustic, or other liquids having similar effect and the shipping paper is noted accordingly, it is allowed passage without quantity restriction when the container size is 16 ounces or less, otherwise, the quantity is not to exceed 5000 pounds gross weight per vehicle, regardless of the size of container, or not to exceed 2500 pounds net weight in a tank vehicle.

(c) There are no restrictions on the passage of empty tank vehicles [FN*] or the transport of empty containers which last contained such corrosive liquid provided the accompanying shipping papers show them to be empty.

[FN*] A tank vehicle which has been drained of the material it contained, with residue not in excess of 15 gallons.
