Section 50.4 - Oath: apprentices and pilots

Before entering upon the duties of pilot service as such, each apprentice accepted by the commissioners, each pilot in training accepted by the commissioners, and each pilot licensed by the commissioners, shall subscribe to the following oath before a notary public:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New York, and that I will obey the laws of the United States and of the State of New York and the lawful regulations of the Commissioners of Pilots, and that I will perform my duties as (apprentice pilot) (pilot in training) (licensed pilot) to the best of my ability.
