Section 810.6 - Local government scholarship awards

(a) Scholarships may be awarded only to students planning a career in municipal government.

(b) Scholarship awards may only provide for the payment of tuition, fees, and books.

(c) Payment of scholarship funds by the local government shall be made each semester either directly to the recipient on a reimbursement basis or directly to the institution.

(d) A local government employee awarded a scholarship for full-time study requiring full-time absence from employment, shall be given a leave of absence for the period of time for which he utilizes such scholarship funds in order to ensure continuity of employment.

(e) A report shall be made to the Office for Local Government by March 15 of each year indicating the recipients of the local government scholarship award for the preceding year.
