Section 448.9 - Recreation

(a) Leisure activities and planned recreation will be provided, including sports and cultural activities.

(b)

(1) At least one designated staff member who has a valid water safety instructor's certificate from the American Red Cross, or from an equivalent certifying organization, will be responsible for the general operation of a swimming pool or bathing beach operated by the group home.

(2) Children participating in swimming pool or bathing beach activities will at all times be supervised by a public or private lifeguard or at least one individual who has a valid certificate of advanced lifesaving or of Water Safety Instructor from the American Red Cross, or its equivalent from another certifying organization.

(c) Additional safety precautions will be taken for children including any child of a parenting youth with special needs or medical conditions that may inhibit their ability to participate in recreational activities, who are cared for in a group home.
