Part 150 - Advertising Signs Adjacent To The Interstate And Primary Highway Systems
Section 150.5 - Signs permitted

(a) The following signs are permitted to be erected and maintained in the controlled area:
(1) official signs;
(2) directional signs, in accordance with
section
150.14 of this
Part; and
(3) on-premises signs, in
accordance with section
150.13
of this Part.
(b) Interstate system. In addition to paragraphs (a)(1), (2) and (3) of this section, the following signs are permitted in the following commercial or industrial zones within 660 feet of the interstate system:
(1) all commercial and industrial zones
within the boundaries of incorporated municipalities, as those boundaries
existed on September 21, 1959; and all other commercial and industrial zones
established as of September 21, 1959 outside of such municipalities;
and
(2) all zoned and unzoned
commercial and industrial zones adjacent to portions of the interstate system
constructed upon right-of-way, any part of which was acquired on or before July
1, 1956. (A portion shall be deemed so constructed if, within such portion, no
line normal or perpendicular to the centerline of the highway and extending to
both edges of the right-of-way will intersect any right-of-way acquired for
right-of-way on or before July 1, 1956.)
(c) Primary system.
(1) In addition to paragraphs (a)(1), (2) and
(3) of this section, the following signs are permitted to be erected and
maintained in the controlled area within 660 feet of the primary system:
(i) signs in commercial or industrial zones;
and
(ii) signs in unzoned
commercial and industrial areas.
(2) All signs erected after June 1, 1968 in
the controlled area and within 660 feet of the nearest edge of the right-of-way
shall comply with the criteria of sections
150.6,
150.7
and
150.8
of this Part.
