Section 101.5 - Authorized emergency vehicle

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an authorized emergency vehicle shall include any motor vehicle owned or operated by the heads of Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services (DHSES), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), as well as Secretary to the Governor, Director of State Operations, Governor, and Lieutenant Governor. Any such vehicle may have affixed thereto and displayed thereon colored lighting as provided in subdivision 41 of Section 375 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, and, when engaged in an emergency opera- tion, the operator of such vehicle shall have all of the rights and privileges granted an authorized emergency vehicle pursuant to Section 1104 of such law
