Section 69.5 - Standards for front crossing arm

The front crossing arm shall be made of any durable material covered with a yellow or white reflective material. The front crossing arm shall be attached to the front bumper of the vehicle hinged from the vehicle's right side at a height of 16-20" up from the ground. It must be extended in conjunction with the required caution arm as described in section 69.2 of this Part. When extended outward in front of the vehicle, the front crossing arm shall extend approximately 4 to 6 feet parallel to the ground to prohibit person(s) from being too close to the vehicle as they prepare to cross the road. When the front crossing arm is retracted against the front of the vehicle it shall not extend past the width of the vehicle on the driver's left side.
