Section 59.5 - In-line skates

(a) In-line skate shall be defined as set forth in section 140-a of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

(b) Reflective material required. Every in-line skate, except those made for special use by highly skilled or expert skaters or for sale or distribution through custom orders (such as in-line hockey skates and in-line speed skates) shall be equipped with a reflective device or material meeting the following standards:

(1) surface area. The total surface area of the reflective device or material shall be at least one square inch; and

(2) location. At least 25 percent of the surface area of the reflective device or material shall be located on the back of each skate.
