Section 56.9 - Front crossing control arms on certain school buses

(a) Notwithstanding any provisions of sections 375 and 385 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, the use of a front crossing control arm shall be permitted on school buses painted national school bus chrome.

(b) A front crossing control arm shall only be activated while the vehicle is stopped and engaged in picking up or discharging pupils and shall be used only in accordance with the directions of the Commissioner of Education.
