Section 55.4 - Approval

It shall not be necessary to submit samples to secure formal approval of padded visors, visor holders and padded instrument panels fom the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles. Any such padded visor, visor holder, or padded instrument panel shall be deemed approved by the commissioner upon receipt of a certificate from the manufacturer that such items of equipment meet the standards and performance criteria of this regulation, or those promulgated by the United States Department of Transportation. Manufacturers shall conduct appropriate performance testing in a facility acceptable to the commissioner to assure that such equipment meets the requirements of this regulation. A report containing the performance data as demonstrated by such testing shall be submitted to the department for review. The failure to submit such report may result in cancellation of the approval of such equipment in this State.
