(a) When the department receives a no insurance (NIS) response from an insurance company to a mandatory verification (MVF) transaction, the department shall issue a registration suspension or 30-day revocation (FH only) and a driver's license suspension, as applicable. Reason for suspension: invalid proof of insurance submitted.

(b) When the department receives a NIS response for a MVF transaction generated by a report of operation of a motor vehicle without insurance, the department shall issue a one year revocation against the driver's license and/or registration as prescribed by law and assess the civil penalties prescribed by law.
