Section 20.16 - Notice of recorded lien

When a proper application for a title, which indicates a lien or liens, or a proper notice of lien is received, the lien or liens will be recorded by the department and will be noted on the certificate of title which is issued. In addition, a notice of recorded lien (Form MV-901) will be sent to the lienholder. This document must be retained by the lienholder since it is to be used for indicating satisfaction of the lien, succession of interest to the ownership of the vehicle or the assignment of the security interest.
