Section 20.27 - Reports of unclaimed vehicles by garage operators

Upon receipt by the department of a report of an unclaimed vehicle by a garage operator pursuant to subdivision (c) of section 2129 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, the department shall acknowledge such receipt and, if possible, shall furnish the garage operator with the name and address of the owner of the vehicle and the owner with the location at which the vehicle is being held. The garage operator's report shall contain any identifying information relating to the vehicle including, if possible, license plate number and vehicle identification number, and the name and address of the garage operator holding the vehicle and the date the garage operator took possession of the vehicle.
