Part 542 - Firearms
Section 542.6 - Application for exception

(a) Individuals seeking an exception to the prohibition against firearms described in section 542.5 of this Part shall apply in writing to the commissioner or his or her designee or facility director. Applications shall be made on such forms as determined by the commissioner. Information required shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

(1) names(s) of individual(s) possessing the firearm(s);

(2) certification that the firearm(s) will only be used for the purposes authorized by section 542.5 of this Part;

(3) identification of all firearms, including permit and/or registration numbers; and

(4) identification and exact location of proposed storage arrangements, including all safety mechanisms.

(b) Individuals making application to possess firearms shall be required to certify that they will comply with all standards set forth in section 542.7 of this Part.

(c) The final determination regarding the request to possess a firearm must be in writing by the commissioner or his or her designee or facility director.
