Section 542.4 - Definitions

(a) Facility means any place in which services for the mentally ill are provided, including but not limited to a psychiatric center, institute, clinic, ward, family care home, community residence, residential treatment facility, residential care center for adults and hospital, except in the case of a hospital as defined in article 28 of the Public Health Law, it shall mean only a ward, wing, unit, or part thereof which is operated for the purpose of providing services for the mentally ill.

(b) Law enforcement agency means the State Police, the local police department or the sheriff's department.
